For this character in the Star Wars mythos, what do you think? E Pluribus Anthony 19:35, 7 December 2005 (UTC)
Shouldn't this be Muthos and not Mythos? The greek word is in fact Muthos, http://www.hfac.uh.edu/MCL/Classics/muthos.html. This should be changed. I've edited it a bit, but the dictionary entries etc need to be changed too.
The Greek upsilon was sometimes translitterated as either u or y, since the Greek alphabet didn't have a separate letter for y. Mythos is by far the more common translitteration, so I see no reason to change it to "muthos".
Proposed move
[edit]It is clear that "mythos" (mythology) is the WP:PRIME topic "with respect to long-term significance, [because] it has substantially greater enduring notability and educational value than any other topic associated with that term." It's also the only (add: English) common noun on the list. I am editing the lead and proposing that this page be moved to Mythos (disambiguation) and redirecting "mythos" to "mythology". There are also quite a few pages to disambiguate per WP:WPDAB, which I intend to do and report back with results. JJB 17:12, 20 April 2012 (UTC)
- 37 of 39 pages using "mythos" were consistent with defining it as mythology (English, German, or Greek); 2 referred to Mythos (video game) (in talk; see edits immediately prior to this one; only 2 pages in all are in mainspace). One or two might be read as also consistent with Mythos (Aristotle), but that is secondary if so. So it seems the primary topic is established and the move is indicated as the best way to accommodate future uses similar to those existing. Attempting boldly now. JJB 15:31, 21 April 2012 (UTC)
